According to a new requirement, companies in the UAE have to ensure that any new employment residence permit applicants that fall under professional levels three, four and five of a new Emirati Vocational Classification scheme must attend a Labour Awareness session anywhere in the UAE. This must be done prior to the approval of their employment contract by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization. It can, however, be noted that this requirement does not apply to employees sponsored by companies in free zones.

What are the Documents Required?

The employees who are nominated for training should visit any Tawjeeh center with original work permit and passport contract with signed and printed copy. 

Duration – The awareness training consists of classroom sessions for around 1 hour and 45 minutes followed by an informative video about employment regulations in the UAE and they are displayed in 16 languages.

New Employees Training Requirements 

New Employee training has now become mandatory in select professions for employees in the UAE. The applicants who are in specific professions and applying for a new employment residence permit should attend awareness sessions, according to labor regulations in the UAE. It is mandatory to get an approval of their employment contract by MOHRE. 

A lot of Tawjeeh centers have been introduced to meet this new requirement as designated by MOHRE to provide proper guidance on the responsibilities and rights of employees and employers before any engagement under contract. However, the process is not applicable for workers who are sponsored in free zones by their employers.
